Take a measurement of the tube width and the hinge-center distance, or take a photo of the inside of the post cap. We match by measurement first, model number second.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question for Viking specifically: Viking’s OEM replacement hinges and brackets are fine, but some of them are priced like they were machined by hand in a castle. We’ve welded aftermarket hinge plates and post brackets onto more Highland Park Viking gates than we can count, and the steel we use often outlasts what was there originally. The difference is the weld, not the sticker on the box.

Signs Your Viking Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate leans toward the latch side even when the hinges look tight. The hinge post itself is moving, or the weld at the post-to-hinge connection has started to crack. The lean comes from the post, not the middle of the gate.
• You hear a creak or a pop when the gate opens and closes. That’s metal flexing at a crack line. Weld cracks on Viking gates usually start at the top hinge and work down, so the sound gets worse over a few weeks, not better.
• The gate scrapes the ground or the driveway in one specific spot. The gate hasn’t grown; the frame has twisted or a weld has let go in the bottom rail. If you’re lifting the gate by hand to get it over the scrape, the bottom rail is done.
• Rust staining runs down from a joint or an ornament. Water is inside the tube and it’s found a way out at the weakest point, which is where the welding happened. Once the rust weeps through, the inside is thinner than you think.
• The gate sways side to side when it’s stopped halfway open. A properly hung gate stays still. Sway means a weld has cracked and the frame is now running on the hinge bolts and gravity instead of the structure.

If you spot any of these, don’t wait until the gate is dragging on the concrete or hanging by one hinge. The fix is cheaper before the failure finishes the job.
