The older Linear SL and VS slide operators paired with gates that have 2-inch or 3-inch roller trucks, and the hinge brackets on swing models share the same bolt pattern through most of the LS and AP series. If you can find the model plate on the operator or the gate frame itself, we can match it. If the plate is gone, we measure the roller diameter, track width, and hinge pin size right at the driveway and go from there.

One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Linear’s 2-inch roller trucks are not interchangeable with the 3-inch trucks, even though both fit onto a standard square post. The track height changes, the gate rides an inch lower, and the limit switches in the operator will fight you every time. Signs Your Linear Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing

• The gate’s dragging or gouging the driveway. A roller bearing seizes, the wheel stops turning, and now the gate is grinding flat spots into the wheel and chewing a groove into the concrete. You’ll hear it before you see it.
• The gate leans toward one side at rest. A hinge pin or roller bracket has worn enough that the panel sits an inch or two lower on one end. The operator is now fighting gravity every cycle, which shortens its life too.
• Loud popping or grinding when the gate moves. Dried out or collapsed bearings in the roller truck make a screech, and a hinge with a wallowed-out pin hole pops every time the wind pushes the gate. These are not sounds that fix themselves.
• The gate stops mid-cycle and reverses. When resistance from a bad roller exceeds the operator’s force settings, Linear operators are programmed to stop and reverse rather than burn the motor. The part that’s failing is usually not the operator.
• Visible rust staining at the hinge or roller base. Texas humidity plus sitting water from sprinkler overspray eats cheap zinc plating fast. Once the rust line runs down the post, the bearings inside aren’t far behind.
